KNOW YOUR ROLE
Leadership is one of those things that, you have to be willing to put aside your ego, in order to do well. There's a saying that leaders, become great because they want to create more leaders. That, in and of itself, is a very unselfish thing to do, and cannot be pulled off by anyone who isN'T unwilling to put their ego aside. Leaders, see the value and potential in others, and wish to make them better people. The mistake most people make, is that they allow their ego, to take control of not only themselves, but, of other people as well. In times of trouble, and crisis, people turn to their leaders for guidance, it's not uncommon. Some "leaders", see this as a burden and feel compelled to "babysit", people doing the work for them. Partially, because they don't trust them, and partially, because they want the credit for themselves. Both of these responses, are generated from an egotistical standpoint.
This is not always a scheme mentality, because it's natural to see the people below you as a threat. The mistake that usually gets made with some leaders, is that they aren't secure in their own position to encourage others. This causes a leader to have an alternate identity, one that focuses on the self preservation aspect of one's station. So in order to preserve one's livelihood the standard course of action, is to do all the work yourself, and keep the people under you, in the dark. However, the major problem with this theory, is that it makes people incompetent, in doing their work. That's not being a leader, that's being an agent of sabotage. You essentially are setting up your entire team to fail, and in doing so, you as a leader also, fail. IT'S EASILY UNDERSTOOD WHY PEOPLE DO THIS, AND THE PRIMARY, ALBEIT, NOT PRIMARILY IDENTIFIED, REASON, IS THE FEAR OF BEING REPLACED. AS A LEADER, YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE DESIRE TO SEE EVERYONE SUCCEED. THIS IS WHY THE GREATEST, TEAMS, ARMIES, AND GOVERNMENTS HAVE WORKED, BECAUSE, THE LEADERS WANTED TO SEE THE SUCCESS OF THE WHOLE, AND WERE WILLING TO TAKE A BACK SEAT AT TIMES.
THAT SAME DRIVE TOWARD SUCCESS, THAT WAS FIRST IN YOU, AND GOT YOU WHERE YOU WANTED TO BE, IS IN OTHERS AS WELL. AS A GREAT LEADER, YOU HAVE TO BE WILLING TO RECOGNIZE THAT, AND ENCOURAGE THAT. WHEN YOU INSPIRE PEOPLE TO ACHIEVE THEIR TRUE POTENTIAL, WHEN YOU GUIDE THEM TOWARD THEIR GOALS, AND WHEN YOU HELP THEM UNDERSTAND THAT THEIR SUCCESS, ENSURES THE SUCCESS OF THE WHOLE....THEN, YOU UNDERSTAND THE TRUE ROLE OF A LEADER. WE LIVE IN A VERY PARANOID SOCIETY, AND YET, WE LIVE IN A VERY DISLOYAL SOCIETY AS WELL. SO, THE QUESTION BECOMES, HOW DOES ONE MAINTAIN, THEIR CONTINUED SUCCESS AS A LEADER, IF ONE OF THE PEOPLE BELOW THEM IS MANIPULATING THE LEADERSHIP BEING TAUGHT, TO THEIR OWN PERSONAL ADVANTAGE. THEN, YOU BACK AWAY, AND WATCH THEIR EGO AND SENSE OF ENTITLEMENT, BRING THEM DOWN. NOT ALL BATTLES, NEED TO BE FOUGHT BY THE LEADER. SOMETIMES, YOU SIMPLY JUST WATCH THE CROPS BURN. BEING A LEADER, IS ABOUT BEING A MENTOR, A GUIDING FORCE, NOT ONLY IN PLACES WHERE THE WORK IS DONE, BUT, IN LIFE AS WELL. THIS BUILDS A SORT OF LOYALTY, BECAUSE, THE PEOPLE UNDER YOU UNDERSTAND THAT, YOU WANT THE BEST FOR THEM, BECAUSE THAT ENSURES THE BEST FOR THE WHOLE. IF, AS A LEADER, YOU CAN TEACH PEOPLE THIS, YOU WILL BE REGARDED AS A GREAT AND PEOPLE WILL GO FURTHER THAN YOU ASK, BECAUSE, YOU ARE CHANGING THE WAY THEYTHINK AND ACT, FOR THE BETTER.
IN ORDER TO LEAD, YOU HAVE TO SEED.
