SPITE POWER?

In your race to the top, don't confuse empowerment with spite. I might've said this before, but, it's important to realize this. Some people need spite to fuel them, to drive them toward their goals. Which can be both good and bad, depending on what's pushing you more. If you're already empowered or motivated, then sometimes a little spite can give you the extra push. However, if that's the main source of your motivation, then you'll always need an antagonist and spite, to continue that toward progress. When those things are absent, you'll create them for yourself to prevail over, and that can be destructive to your main goals. Also, when those things are a sent, you can become stagnant, unmotivated, and lethargic even, toward your goals. It's not entirely uncommon to be this way. Many people are this way. I was this way on more than one occasion. It's as if someone is questioning, your ability or character, and you feel the necessity to prove your mettle, so to speak. The confrontation doesn't even actually take place, however, some experiences make you question that inner worth or sense of purpose, and that is followed by the necessity to validate thru action. It's a defense mechanism, of sorts. Post relationships, post jobs, and posts disagreements, are the most common. However, if you can channel that antagonist mentality, and focus on questioning yourself and your progress, you then have something to consistently prove to yourself. This becomes an endless battle. The plus side to this, is the fact that you'll always feel the need to prove something to yourself, and feel you have so far to go. This breeds humility, which is a good thing. Unless you are extremely obsessive compulsive and cannot move forward due to extreme self criticism. So, in life, do not search for the antagonist, and instead, make yourself the protagonist in your own story. See the goals, you want to achieve, and let the distance empower you to take the steps, not out of anger, but, out of the necessity to reach the goal for yourself.    -  925
